As many of you are aware the Post Office raised rates again on January 22nd. The increase was a modest 1 cent on a first class letter from 44 to 45 cents. We hear a lot of complaints at our postal counter every time the rates go up, but I think most people agree you would be very hard pressed to find any other delivery service that would hand deliver a letter, bill or document half way across the country for 45 cents! The postal service also has extremely good rate for media mail. The material sent must be educational media. It can’t contain advertising (no magazines), video games, computer drives, or digital drives. Many of our customers save money sending books and educational videos using this service. The medium size flat rate Priority Mail box can be a very good deal too, at only $10.85 particularly if what you are mailing is heavy and going or the East or West coast. And best of all the box is free!
Ever since the downtown post office closed last year we are a lot busier. If you can, try to avoid Mondays and Friday mornings as they are usually the busiest. Also, don’t forget that our Post Office is open every hour and every day we are open! President’s Day is February 20th this month and we will be open 9 to 8. The post office on Ogden will be closed.
